Cheryl brings over 3 decades of clinical experience to her therapy practice. She specializes in the treatment of chronic pain and manual therapy. She has a passion for her career, and has dedicated herself to ongoing continuing education so that each visit to her facility brings progress toward your goals. Cheryl received a Bachelor of Science in PT from CSULB in 1988, her Manual Therapy Certification from the University of St. Augustine in 1996, a Master of Health Science from the University of St. Augustine in 2005, and her Pilates Certification in 2016. Maile Bay, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS
Maile graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2006. She became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2008. She received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of Southern California in 2009. Her treatment approach emphasizes functional therapeutic exercise, movement science, Pilates, and Manual Therapy. Maile is also a member of the APTA.
Maile enjoys an active lifestyle of dance, Pilates and running. In addition to her education, it is through participating in these activities that she has developed a passion for the biomechanics of the human body. Kari Rufca, PT, DPT
Originally from Chicago, Kari earned her Bachelors degree from Florida State University. She went on to study Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado, and then received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences. Her approach to Physical Therapy combines manual treatment, functional exercise and patient education to provide high quality care. She understands that the rehabilitation process is both a mental and physical journey, and she believes in a collaboration with the patient to help achieve their goals. Cheryl Abbani, PT, DPT
Cheryl Abbani is a physical therapist at Excel Physical Therapy. She graduated from the University of Southern California in 2005 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. As an undergraduate she completed her Bachelor of Science in Health Science from California State University Northridge. Her focus is a dynamic blend of didactic orthopedic and neurologic treatment skills working with clients in all stages of the recovery process. She has a hands-on approach that involves manual skills incorporated with functional methods to improve movement. She knows individualized goals for each client improves results. Staying up to date in PT journals also enhance outcomes with treatments she is a member of the CPTA, APTA special sections and takes courses which include; hands-on manual therapy, therapeutic and functional exercise training, and pain management techniques. Moreover, her observation of function involves scientific investigation, patient values and clinical expertise. People having an active role in their rehabilitation building bridges toward returning to prior activities and benefiting the health of society as a whole.
In addition to her professional career Cheryl A. enjoys time with her husband and two children bike riding, camping, volunteering and traveling. She has also taken to teaching at the local college.
Margarita is from Wilmington, she attended Banning High school and graduated in 2009. She then attended the University of California, San Diego, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science in 2013. Margarita is now attending the University of St. Augustine for Health Science in San Marcos, CA and is pursuing a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
"I first became interested in physical therapy when my brother, who was 27 at the time, could not walk, stand on his own, or do any type of physical activity, due to back pain. He was then sent to a physical therapy facility, where he was treated. Now he is able to not just walk but run, go to the gym, and even coach a softball team."
Margarita loves outdoor activities and is a world traveler. She loves to run and hopes to begin training for her second marathon. She played rugby in college and water-polo in high school. She also loves hiking, horseback riding, swimming, and walking her dogs. For about 10 years she danced Ballet Folklorico.
